DFARS and RoHS

RoHS Compliance Statement:

In an effort to reduce or eliminate environmental pollution and improve the quality of human health the European Union (EU) has adopted Directive RoHS 2003/11/EC and RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC which will restrict the use of the following hazardous substance for electronic equipment effective July 1, 2006:
• Lead • Cadmium • Mercury
• Hexavalent Chromium
• Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB)
• Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE)

Unicorp has been striving to manufacture electronic component hardware that is in RoHS compliance. The following raw materials are currently in RoHS compliance:
• Brass    • Nylon • Steel    • Teflon®
• Stainless Steel     • Phenolic
• Ultem® • Delrin® • Lexan®  • Halar ®  • Tefzel ®  • Polyolefin
  • Aluminum 2011-T3
• Aluminum (6000 series for all Handles)

All of our plating codes are RoHS compliant except for the following:
• F05 Cadmium Plate, Clear Chromate
• F05A Cadmium Plate, Commercial
• F06 Cadmium Plate, Gold Chromate
• F17A Hot Tin Dip
• F19A Electro Tin Solder 60/40

How to Order RoHS Aluminum Parts:
When ordering RoHS Aluminum for Standoffs, Spacers, Swage Standoffs, Male-Female Standoffs, Male-Male Standoffs, Captive Screws, Captive Retainers and Thumbscrews add an R before the material code number.
*All Unicorp Aluminum Handles have always been RoHS Compliant, no need to add an R to the part number.

As of July 1, 2006, all items sold by Unicorp will be in RoHS compliance including our aluminum alloy 2011. Please contact our office at sales@unicorpinc.com if you have any questions on the few finishes that are not currently in compliance.

A list of Metals below used by Unicorp in our manufacturing of electronic component hardware, as indicated by DFARS Clause 252.225-7014, Preference for Domestic Specialty Metals, Alternative 1, as classified in 225.7002-3 (b)(1). The Metals used by Unicorp are classified as follows:
   • Stainless Steel: is Compliant
   • Steel: is Compliant
   • Aluminum: is Exempt of this Requirement
   • Brass: is Exempt of this Requirement

WEEE Statement:
(Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
The European Union has adopted a directive, article 3a, concerning the disposal of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment.
Unicorp's products are not subject to this directive.
Unicorp can not certify the compliance and will not be responsible for any materials or finishes that contain restricted substances that are requested by our customers. Unicorp will not assume liability for the disposal of our products. Any product supplied by Unicorp that may require future disposal will be the responsibility of the purchaser in accordance with local laws and regulations.
